Celebrating the heritage of
Dublin’s oldest Italian food market.

Little Italy have been at the heart of Dublin’s Italian food culture for three generations. A family-run business, they had established a market-leading position in Ireland for quality and value. But with several competitors dialling up their own ‘heritage’, the focus of the brand refresh for Little Italy was credible authenticity.

Meaningful tradition

With an archive of family knowledge and imagery to explore, we considered several design routes that were rooted in the distinctive characteristics of the brand. The logotype is based on the traditional Italian font ‘Bembo’ whilst the 1976 stamp celebrates the year Little Italy was founded. This stamp became a secondary visual mark for the brand, as part of the primary logo lock up or working independently.

Fusing old with new

TAP crafted and defined a suite of brand assets to capture the unique quirks and eccentricities of the family-run business that was grounded in a deep love of Italian food. Inspired by old Italian street signs and hand-painted shop fronts, the result is fuses tradition with modernity.

Refreshed e-commerce

With a marked increase in online revenue, a website design was intrinsic to the success of the overall brand refresh. Working closely with the Little Italy team and nominated partners, TAP crafted a look and feel that celebrated their passion for food. Designed with the customer in mind, the website is streamlined and in tune with modern life.

The result is very sensitive to the brand’s distinctive heritage and family values. It’s a celebration of what makes Little Italy unique.
